Ditch Assist Description

Ditch Assist is an Android App to help you stay on grade when ditching, trenching, land leveling, and more. Using Bluetooth technology to connect your Android device to your GPS system, it provides a low-cost wireless solution to maintaining grade.

Ditch Assist takes the NMEA information from your RTK GPS receiver and uses it to provide UP-DOWN guidance to make sure you stay on the required grade. You simply pair your GPS with your Android device via Bluetooth, and your device becomes an invaluable tool for anyone constructing drainage ditches, field leveling, grade staking, or undertaking any kind of landscaping and grading.

Survey Mode.

Survey mode allows you to quickly determine the natural or existing gradient of a route. Simply drive to the start point, press Start, then drive the route. As you move away from your start point, the application automatically calculates the linear (straight-line) distance traveled, computes the elevation change, and informs you of the average grade of the run.

This information can be used to determine your target gradient for creating a ditch, or simply as a tool to measure distance and elevation change.

Ditch Mode.

Ditch Mode is just like a traditional laser system (but with the efficiency of GPS), and provides a visual guide to either keep you at a constant elevation, or maintain a constant slope.

Simply lower your blade to ground level (or required start depth), enter the required gradient, and hit ‘Start’.

The program works both uphill and downhill – just enter a positive grade (e.g. 0.05) if you are working downhill, or a negative grade (e.g. -0.05) if you are working uphill. To stay completely level just enter 0 in the grade box.

The vertical arrows will illuminate to inform you to raise or lower the implement depth in order to achieve the required grade. Information above the arrows tells you exactly how many inches above or below your target depth you are at. You can adjust the sensitivity of the arrows in the options, making each arrow represent any number of inches.

If you find you went too deep and want to continue from that depth the Adjust Elevation controls will nudge the target depth up or down by 2″ each press.
